Lime Crime is branching out into nail polish.
They were kind enough to send me the "Les Desserts d'Antoinette" collection to review.
From their description: "7 pastel shades, inspired by confectionary delights from Marie Antoinette's table. Recklessly pigmented crème formula is rich, smooth and opaque in just two coats. Each bottle comes equipped with a flat, wide brush for superb control and flawless application. Never tested on animals. 3-Free."
They came each in individual boxes with the ingredients and things listed on it. They also sent a promo card for the collection, a glittery Lime Crime sticker with their logo, and a sample size of their eyeshadow primer.
Swatches & comparisons after the jump...
A pastel tiffany blue. This is 2 coats.
I wanted to see how it compared to my favorite "tiffany blue" and other polishes that were similar.
Top to bottom: Orly Ancient Jade, Lime Crime Once In A Blue Mousse, China Glaze For Audrey, & China Glaze Bahamian Escape. Lime Crime comes closest to For Audrey, but even then it's not an exact dupe.
Parfait Day
Pastel pink. This took me 3 coats to even everything out. Would have been possible to stop with just 2 careful coats.
Left to right: China Glaze Dance Baby, Lime Crime Parfait Day, & China Glaze Something Sweet. Closest to Something Sweet, but it is noticeably brighter.
Lavendairy
Pastel purple. This one dried to an almost satin finish, it was different than the others. 2 coats pictured.
Left to right: Barielle Expressive, Lime Crime Lavendairy, & Orly Lollipop
Really close to Lollipop.
Crema De Limon
Pastel yellow. I loooooove yellow polishes. And this was no exception.
3 coats to even everything out.
Left to right: theBalm Hot Ticket Mellow Yellow, Lime Crime Crema De Limon, China Glaze Lemon Fizz.
Dupe of Lemon Fizz, theBalm is lighter than both.
Peaches <3 Cream
Pastel orange. This is 3 coats.
I kept dinging my nails for comparison before I could get the picture taken. :(
But just trust me, I don't have a dupe anyway.
Pastelchio
Lime green. I think this is too bright to be called a pastel. 3 coats.
Left to right: SpaRitual Eye of the Beholder, Lime Crime Pastelchio, & Sally Hansen Green with Envy. It's noticeably brighter than both. No dupe here.
Milky Ways
Saved the best for last! This one is truly unique and really impressed me. :) A unique almond color! Their website describes it as an "off white french tip color." I wouldn't use it for that though. I really like the way it looks so clean as the entire manicure. 3 coats to be opaque and not streaky.
Left to right: Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Lime Crime Milky Ways, China Glaze Sunset Sail, & Essie Sand Tropez. You can really see the peach undertones. Really unique in my collection and I think it will make for a great base polish for nail art!
Overall impression:
The formula on all was not terribly difficult to deal with. All of the polishes were on the thicker side, but they still applied smoothly. Dry time was average. They did NOT dry to an incredibly shiny finish, each picture is after applying topcoat. The brushes were nice and flexible, squared off ends. The care that they put into the packaging earns an A+! Adorable! Bows, unicorns, and purple? What girl would say that was anything less than perfection. The rectangular bottles also store nicely which is something I appreciate.
Each bottle is 9mL, priced at $5.99/each, and can be purchased here.
