Stripes & Flowers

Posted on 06:39 by Unknown
I've been playing around with the SensatioNAIL at home gel kit since I purchased it, and this is a look I copied from Pinterest (HERE)
The pink is SensatioNAIL pink chiffon and I did the design once I had cured the pink but before apply the clear topcoat. I painted the designs using a small nail art brush, acrylic paints, and tape to mask off the stripes. The rhinestones are from some mixed set I got a long time ago.

The rhinestones really stick well under gel top coat. It seems to help the longevity!

Marbelous Nails - That's Cray Kit

Posted on 04:00 by Unknown
I was contacted by the cutest CEO ever. Veronica is only 13 and has already pursued her dreams. She's started this company with the assistance of her parents and it's just getting off the ground. She is selling water marble nail kits for girls her age -- to make the process as simple and convenient as possible. It includes everything you need to be able to water marble, with detailed instructions on how to do it.

"That's Cray" is the first kit, it can be purchased HERE for $22.50.

It came packaged so adorably!
Everything was protected very well with bubble wrap and tissue around the polishes, and padding of pink paper filler.

Her instructions are very well written and laid out to make it understandable.

The kit includes a plastic water marble jar with a screw on top.
Some toothpicks and q-tips and a roll of tape.
My "bonus goodie" must be the yellow bouncy ball. (My cat has really enjoyed playing with it. Lol)

The base coat is from Nabi and the clear topcoat is from KleanColor.

The three color polishes are all from Nabi.
(Ace, Baby Blue, & Velvet I )
The first 2 are creme finishes, the last is a metallic.

Here are my water marbling results. I'm not the most experienced with marbling, and to me the results aren't worth all the trouble it takes.

The kit itself is great in that it does have everything you need to get started with water marbling. The plastic jar is a great size. The tape works great for masking off the skin around your nails. The colored polishes spread easily in the water so they work well. I wouldn't necessarily have grouped these 3 colors together though. It's just not my personal tastes. I don't feel like they go that well together.

You can see some bubbles that affected the pattern. The topcoat applied easily enough and didn't drag the patterns. It didn't dry particularly fast though.

Close ups of each nail so you can see just how bad I am at water marbling.

Overall, I think the kit is a great idea. It includes everything you need. The packaging is ADORABLE. I feel like the price is a little steep. I would consider the overall value of everything to be more in the range between $15-$20.

Thanks for sending this to me to review Veronica!

Tammy Taylor - Gelprisa! Ca. French Pink

Posted on 13:00 by Unknown
Tammy Taylor also sent me another of her gel UV/LED cure polishes.
Previously I tried out her Top Gel Plus clear topcoat.
Once it is available on her website, I'll update with a link here.

I recently purchased the SensatioNail at home gel kit so as to have a LED light to cure these type polishes.
Pictured is 2 coats, each cured for 60 seconds each. It's a soft pink that helps hide some simple staining, but still looks very natural and demure. It applied easily, and cured properly.

I can't attest to a wear test on gel polishes, because you all know how inept I am at keeping the same polish on for more than a few days.

Tammy Taylor Matte Neon Plush Glitters

Posted on 04:00 by Unknown
Tammy Taylor sent me some cool new products to try. These are glitters that are matte so you can use them for a 3D textured effect. Once they are available on their website, I'll update with a link here.

Pink, Kiss, & Squeeze

I applied them by sprinkling it on top of a still wet topcoat layer. I faded them together into a gradient look.

Pink is a straight up neon pink (blue toned)

Pink fading into Kiss then Kiss fading into Squeeze
Kiss is a more red toned pink

Squeeze is just neon orange.

You can see the texture better from this angle. They are quite coarse to the touch. These aren't meant to be worn with topcoat layered on top. It would probably take 3 coats or more to smooth it out anyway.
I wore these over Color Club Wham! Pow!, Warhol, & Poptastic. They were the perfect pairs.

The remains that overflowed onto the paper plate as I sprinkled. This shows you just how tiny the particles are. It reminds me of the size of particles in Floam.

China Glaze Texture - Itty, Bitty, & Gritty

Posted on 06:53 by Unknown
I recently purchase one of the China Glaze Texture collection because it was on clearance at my local Sally's Beauty Supply. It's nice, but I'm just not a fan of the texture trend.

Pictured is 2 thin coats. Thin coats work best in order to get even texture coverage.Fairly easy to work with, just not really my thing.

Born Pretty Swarovski Rhinestone

Posted on 11:09 by Unknown
These rhinestones are available HERE at Born Pretty. 144 count for $7.27.
Each rhinestone is 2.6mm in diameter.

The polishes I used are Zoya Marley & Malia, then China Glaze Millennium to stamp the image from BM-204. I placed the rhinestone while my topcoat was still wet.

They are beautifully faceted, so they really catch the light and shine. Great quality compared to the dull flat silver rhinestones I've bought previously on eBay.

If you choose to go make a purchase, don't forget my coupon code:
